Guitar Licks
Welcome To My Guitar Licks Page! On this page I will post a new lick each day. I think it's much better to learn a lick a day than to just post a bunch of licks on here, this way you'll really have time to master each lick, and really get it under your fingers. Possibly, the only thing that is missing from your development as a lead guitarists, is a supply of musical phrases and creative ideas to place inside all of the scales we have covered so far.
Alot of players, myself included, tend to get locked into playing ruts. What I mean by that is alot of guitarists tend to get locked into their own patterns, always using the same licks or same approach to any scale. This page is designed to help you put some new patterns into your guitar playing, by building up and mastering a wide variety of licks and musical phrases. A good number of these licks can also serve as great right and left hand exercises.
On this page you will be learning licks from all of the scales presented on this site. With the exception of the open string licks, all the licks on this page are moveable. Also, all of the licks on this page will all be in the key of A. This time i'll be leaving it up to you to find the root notes. As you learn each one, search for the A notes. All A notes are root notes. You can move these to any key by changing the letter name of the root notes. For example, the A note on the sixth string, fifth fret is the root note for the first lick. Now if we move that one down two frets, the note on the sixth string, third fret will become the root note. Since this note is a G note, the lick is now in the key of G.
